"New" Cult Awareness Network
Information pertaining to the "New" CAN will go here. Post any info you find here, and I will update the OP accordingly.

In 1996, the Church of Scientolgy effectively executed a takeover of the Cult Awareness Network. 60 Minutes did an EXCELLENT report on the Scientology takeover of CAN which can be seen on XenuTV's YouTube account HERE.
Wikipedia article pertaining to CAN: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult_Awareness_Network (Reminder: Wikipedia is the best resource on the internet for information that may or may NOT be true and may be edited by anyone, including Scientology representatives.)
According to http://www.cultawarenessnetwork.org/WhoWeAre.html "The New Cult Awareness Network began operating in October 1996, after the former Cult Awareness Network declared bankruptcy and sold their assets when they couldn.t pay the $1,000,000 fine they had been ordered to pay for their part in the abduction of a man named Jason Scott in a failed attempt to change his religious beliefs."
Also from the same page, it appears that a "fundamental Christian group" in Ohio has donated to them. I'll try to find out who.
Read the page and you can begin to see the influence of Scientology on this shady organization.
SIDE NOTE: Check out the bottom of the CAN "Who We Are" page... there's a banner for PsychDrugTruth.com that says you can "Find out how to get off of these medications safely..." Isn't it ironic... don't ya think?

I saw an Internet clip about the new CAN. It's annoying how Scientology could do such a thing.

The reallyannoying thing is that if you call asking about the cult of scientology they'll feed you pure propaganda about what a fine, upstanding, wonderful organization scientology is. They hang up when you ask questions about such unimportant things as Lisa McPherson. Or why scientiology has ais tax exempt when the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the lifing of their exeption by the IRS.
Call from a payphone, if you can find one (800 numbers are free), - they have been known to turn over phone numbers to the Sea Org for investigation of those who try to ask questions...

I can't think of a pay phone anywhere. There might be one at a gas station.

I don't think any puppies were killed by your doing that, so no big deal. :-D Plus it is a good subject to bring up again, and just fits in with demonstrating their insidious, lying nature.Courtney13 wrote:Sorry for necro posting.
