No corporation are going to care about clipart usage of some copyright crap especially if it is a non-profit, local level "flyer". And especially because it was sent only via email which isn't "publishing" and especially since it is of such low quality. They would also have to go after everysingle little yoda .jpg on peoples crappy websites on the entire internet.

I don't see why enforcing your copyright in one place would mean you would have to go after every violator. Its your intellectual property and you can chose to prosecute only those whose use you disapprove of. There is no reason I can see to not share this info with LucasArts.

As a fan of the Star Wars saga, I hate to see Yoda being used in this way. It goes completely against the spirit of the thing.

Actually, if it is brought to their attention most copyright holders will go after the offender; part of having a copyright is defending it; if you do not defend it, then it becomes part of the public domain.

There is absolutely no reason not to report this copyright violation except that every single one of your posts is nothing but do nothing negativity.

Uhm, sending an email is publishing according to the U.S. copyrights rules (the much-hated and totally-biased-in-favor-of-business DCMA). And a copyright holder can pick and choose his/her battles, it's not necessary for them to go after every infringement (bring to mind a cult we all know?) to maintain their deathgrip on the material. I get to work with rights and clearances every day in one form or another.

Finally, may I ask what the hell you've been ingesting when you refer to the cult as non-profit? In what universe/dimension?

That went well. I called Lucas Licensing.

tl;dr: they were very interested, from the switchboard person to the admin person I talked to, about this violation and they took it seriously. They do not want anyone building a brand connection between Lucas Licensing IP and just any group. I asked for anonymity as scientology was involved, but said I had an anonymous (heh) email, and that was good enough for them, especially as I know the person who has the email with full headers.

The lawyer was out of the office, but I was instructed to repeat all the details and make sure to leave my contact email.

So, I hope to hear from them soon.
